The Caldecott award recognizes "distinguished illustrations in a picture book and excellence of pictorial presentation for children." Why Mosquitos Buzz in People's Ears is a Caldecott Classic. In this class, children will illustrate a lion or owl from this West African tale in the style of the illustrators, Leo and Diane Dillon. Participants will use bleach and oil pastels to create a batik like effect on paper. Registration begins two weeks prior to class. Ages 8-12.
