We will look at the work of Kehinde Wiley, most famous for this portrait of Barack Obama. Wiley is known for his colorful paintings that portray contemporary black men and women in the context of classical paintings of royalty. His backgrounds involve repeating motifs that often relate directly to the subject. We will carve a motif out of linoleum and use it to create a pattern on a large sheet of paper that can be used as a backdrop for photos. Ages 13 and above.
