Cem Akatay was born and raised in Istanbul, Cem joined Purdue University in 2009 for a PhD degree in Materials Engineering. Enchanted by the interaction between man and the water, he started practicing marbling paper art. Cem describes his time on the marbling tray as a time travel in which the wiggles of the water take him to a journey through past and the future. Wednesday, May 15, at the Fishers Library at 7 p.m. Cem will provide an introduction to Turkish Traditional Arts, he will perform the art of Erbu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_marbling), we'll watch a short video entitled “Yes I would like have another cup of tea” presentation by Kathrine Branning, and we'll enjoy Turkish Tea and Baklava.
